Am sorry for your loss. My granddaughter lost her precious baby girl at 20 weeks. Went to Build-A-Bear store to buy dress to bury her in. She has been making 3" stuffed bears out of donated wedding gowns to give to others who have lost their baby.

I'm so very, very sorry for the loss of your great grandson. A new sewing lounge opened up in our town this past year & one thing they do is make angel gowns. They have set aside the third Thursday of each month for volunteers to come in and help make the gowns.

Here are some sites that I found that might help you:

So sorry for the family loss.
I have seen wedding gowns repurposed for these little outfits. Watch garage sales, thrift stores, etc. Let your friends know you are looking for satin type formal White gowns.

One of my quilting friends has passed on herself but she used to do this. She did a lot of heirloom sewing with tucks and tatting and inset lace and things. I heard one lady remark that they were too pretty to bury... I think she was surprised at the strength of my friend's response but it included that memories, like children, were priceless.

I do a lot of quilts for donation so I don't get to know the recipients. My feeling is that if my quilts give even 15 minutes of comfort or distraction or whatever for whatever the recipient or family is going through, then my work/costs has been worthwhile.

In my current small group one of the ladies specializes in premie quilts. I forget the specifics but she has a size limitation, no metallics on the fabrics, no big bunchy seams, and flannel on the back.

My sister and I made a few … it is a wonderful gift for families that suffer this type of loss … check with local hospitals for the details in your area.
