Alright, so last night I was miserable with an ear infection and today I tried the weirdest thing I could think of: Ear Candles. I am becoming more and more a supporter of homeopathic remedies. Ever tried one? If not, you should! Seriously, I don't even feel a bit of pain in my ear anymore!!!

can you hear out of it---ear candles are great for removing SOFTENED wax----but do not underestimate the strength of the vacumm if your drum is very fragile [due to infection] it can burst i am a great believer in complimentary therapies and use them a lot but you need to know all the info to be safe

I have some of them but I'm too scared to try it. Someone sent me a few a long time ago.

I see a naturopath who uses ear candles. She doesn't think the general public should be using them without some sort of training, and having gone through cnling a couple of times, I can understand why. But you are right, it's just like magic when the pain disappears.

Sorry I'm out of line right now, but when I saw the title, I was thinking about the movie Shreck.

Didn't he use the wax of his ears for candles? :?

I'm glad your pain is gone, ear infections are not nice.

ewwwwwwwwwwwww, I dont remember that part of the movie... and I'm glad I dont rememeber!!!!

I love ear candles.. but as with everything else there are some "crappy versions out there....

I've had ear cleanings the " traditional way" several times, and I woudl rather have teeth pulled with out novacaine!! I had horrible pain during and after and it left me with a severe headache that last almost a week... yeah, I could hear but with all the pain... I didnt care IF I could hear.!
Ear Candles are THE way to go.......

I am taking Sign Language 3 currently at college and if you want to be deaf, ear candling will put you on the right path! Ear drums and the tiny bones in your ear can easily be damaged by this "treatment". My sign language instructor knows several people who have permanent deafness now because of this. Go to a medical doctor, pouring hot wax into your ear is NOT the way to go. If you decide to do this, maybe I'll see you in a Sign Language class in the near future...

I have used ear candles for several years and it never ceases to amaze me how much better my ears feel and how much better I can hear when I use them. You have to know how to use them correctly so that you don't cause ear damage or loss of hearing, but when done correctly, they are amazing!!!

They offer this treatment at a local day spa near me. I don't exactly understand the benefits for a non-pathological condition. What does it do? It sounds scary to me, but....?

WHAT????
I've candled for decades and have NEVER had hot wax poured, or even dripped by accident, into my ears or anyone else's I've seen or done. This is a misconception.
