Bernina makes a jumbo hoop (10-1/4" and 15-3/4" embroidery area) but it only fits the 830, I think. Here's the link if you want to see more info: http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Product.../Jumbo-Hoop-us

I had the Babylock Esante, a combination embroidery and sewing machine. The largest hoop I had was larger than a 5x7, can't remember what size though. The point is, I loved that machine for both the embroidery and the sewing part. So many decorative stitches. I downloaded thousands of designs for a very small fee ($40.00 a year.) Sad to say the machine died, as those computer machines will eventually do and it was cost prohibitive to get it fixed. I miss that machine everyday that I use the Bernina Deco 330 that I have now (which is embroidery only.) If I ever hit the lottery or get an unexpected inheritance I would definitely find a Babylock again. Gosh, I miss her so much.

The largest hoop on the PR1000e is 14x8. Can also get one to fit the PR600. I agree, if you want the biggest hoop available, you will need to step up to the multi needle machine. Janome has a 4 needle, Babylock and Brother (which are the same machine) have a 6 and 10 (I have the 6). They are pushing their 10 needle now and offering great deals which leads me to believe a 12 needle is looming on the horizon!
