don't know how pricey it will be but I'm guessing it won't hold up like our quilts!

Early small airplanes were covered with fabric that was treated somehow.
That's what this reminds me of. It's light-weight, maybe it was to make the car lighter, making it more fuel-efficient, but definitely not safe in a collision.
