I'm a new facebook user :roll: .When I login a symbol ? in the bottom right corner saying chat pops up. Right now I just ignore it. What does it mean.

That is just a list of your friends that you can chat with. If you click their name then a privet message box opens up

You can chat with any of your friends that are on FB at the same time as you. This is the box that pops up when you type and chat and they respond to you.

Ok, so it's ok to just ignore. I just look at nieces' photos, never chat.

What it says, you can chat with your friends who are online at the time. There is a symble near the top that if you click on it will give you some tools that allow you to hide when your on line or shows you are availible for chat. You can also just ignor the little windo. I talk to my nieces and a couple friends that way from time to time. Keeps our converstion private and off the wall.
