Faces of Memorial Day
This is Joe Pace, one of my father's friends. He was on the Pennsylvania and died at Pearl Harbor. My father did not find out until the next March.
Do you have any to add?

Aww, look at that sweet face.
My Dad was drafted into WW2 but never had any combat. He was a lawyer and they used him elsewhere. My uncle, on the other hand, was a POW but thankfully made it home and lived a long life.

My Dad, my Father in law, my Husband, my Uncle Randy. Then there is my Uncle Keith, Cousin Skippy and my Cousin Kelly (she served in the Army).
My Uncle Marcus Otto served in the Civil War. After he came back some people in town thought he needed a conservator to mange his money. Uncle Marcus drank, but it was later found by a Judge that he took care of his family first. His wife was given the lion's share of the money every month to take care of the household and he kept a small bit for his recreational activities.

My grandfather and uncle both served in WWII but both returned, thankfully. My father had a medical issue and could not go. Proud of those who served and
sacrificially gave for our country and our freedoms. May we never forget.

My mothers first DH was killed in Italy April 1945, two weeks before the end. My mom was widow at 24 with 2 kids under 5. She said she knew he was gone when the daily letters quit coming. She said It was 3 weeks from the last letter until the military officials showed up at the door. My Uncle Leo was shot down over Germany and was a POW. My Uncle Jack was one of 40 something survivors out hundreds of men. Both Uncles rarely, if ever talked about their experiences. My brother and brother-in-law are veterans of Viet Nam. I have 2 Uncles that are Vets of the Korean war. My moms family was thankful and proud that all her 4 sons/brothers came home safe from the wars.

My father lost his left eye in WWII teaching Rosie the Riveter in Washington state. He went back to Texas & married the girl at the draft board, my mother! Grandfather lost his left leg in the trenches of France in WWI. My great grandfather was a horse soldier during what was called the "Indian Uprising" near Cheyenne, kinda interesting since his mother was half Native American. His father made it home from the civil war & his grandfather & father fought for Texas independence, the county bares our name.
God Bless America!

I had a cousin that died in the Battle of the Bulge in WII. My father served in the Navy in WWII. My brother served in the air force between wars.
Today at 3 PM, please don't forget the moment of silence to remember all the one's who gave the lives for our safety and freedom.
