As I was reading the news at www.msnbc.com a few minutes ago..this article caught my eye...Can you just imagine... I'm sorry I had to post this. After the morning I've had it made me laugh. :)

After it was discovered to be a harmless lawn ornament, a landowner explained that he put it there to keep children off his property, Gentry told the AP.

When an alligator was spotted near a suburban Kansas City pond, local police decided they were taking no chances: They would shoot the fearsome creature from a distance with a rifle.

..But the mighty beast took the first shot to the head without batting an eyelid, and then the second one bounced off.

At that point, the officers realized the alligator was not a bulletproof alligator; rather, it was just a concrete lawn ornament, The Associated Press reported Thursday.

It was among some weeds near a tree and, according to Gentry, it appeared to be the real thing.

I didn't know that Kansas City had a problem with alligators, so it should have been obvious it was a lawn ornament. It's fuuny anyway.

I would be afraid of police that stupid. They never called or knocked on the owner's door to say Hey don't come outside, it's dangerous and oh by the way we are going to be shooting rifles in your front yard. It's so stupid it's funny but not funny at the same time.

Reminds me of the piece of driftwood my xsil found that looked exactly like a snake curled and with head raised. He put it right at the edge of the path around the flower bed. It scared everyone who walked near it, especially me.LOL

They must have been poor shots. You would think the bullets would have blown up the gator's head.
