Hi Mucky,
I ship everything through Paypal shipping. With Priority I get a 5% discount. The only thing I don't is First Class. Not sure about Parcel Post b/c I don't use it. I also have a USPS account if you don't want to use Paypal shipping. Same discount but you can't ship First Class with an account that isn't linked to Paypal.
I NEVER go to the post office. My carrier picks everything up in the daily mail. They supply those crates for you to fill if you need them.
About selling, I list for the minimum I am willing to take for the item. That way I don't lose money.
Hope this helps!
Sue

Always has been a fee to the seller, but as someone said, it is how they make their money for their business.

I have been asked by a couple of sellers to mark the "services" block when buying from them. The buyer then pays the fee instead of the seller in that instance. If the box "goods" is marked, then the seller pays the fees.

Don't do it!! If you don't mark it as "goods", you have no way of getting your money back if they don't deliver. If you mark it goods, they have to prove delivery.

I use Paypal as a seller and I have NO PROBLEM paying the very small fee they charge - it just is not a big deal to me. I mean we are talking about 3% here. Not gonna break me!

you need to go through your pay-pal site and read the fees/usage pages- some transactions have fees attached- others do not- my mother pays me her phone bill each month with paypal- if i send a request there is a fee- if she just sends me the money there is no fee-
if she were to set it up for a re-occuring payment to be paid each month there would be a fee-
different transactions have different fees and rules- and you should be familiar with how it works-by reading all those pages they sent you when you signed up....which you also signed and said you understood.

I have always paid members of this board with PayPal when buying fabric. I was never charged a fee. I always clicked on the part that said goods. I don't know if the seller was charged. If so I hope they put in for that in the price.

Thank you for the info. I was not aware of that. I guess from now on I'll just have to tell them I won't do it and if they want to sell me anything, they'll let the money go as "goods".
