My DDIL gave me this bromiliad for Mother's Day about 5yrs ago. It had a flower on it at the time, but after it died, the plant never bloomed again - until now! It is actually on one of the "babies" that grew out from the main plant. This flower is as big as my hand and so pretty. Just had to share.

I have many of those.. when a new baby grows you cut it off when it becomes half the size of the mother. They like Morning sun. You should get a new flower every year. Mine are blooming too. I just love them too.

VERY pretty! Bromeliads are very neat plants (and somewhat unusual) in the wild. Thanks for sharing.

Spectacular bloom. I can't believe you got it to bloom indoors. A job well done.

I had pinapples growing in the house I had in Cape Coral FL and the pinapples that came off them were small but so sweet and were no acidity as the ones you buy but take 18 to 21 months to bloome just like the bromilieds they start a new plant after it's blooms

I just found out not too long ago that you can plant the top of the pineapple and it will grow a new fruit.

Here are a couple of mine going off right now. Sometimes you will get two babies off one mom. OOO Remember to water the middle everyday and feed once in a while.

What a beautiful flower, and I've seen plenty in nursery tours.

It's such a lovely thing you should enlarge that picture and frame it. And then make a quilt or wall hanging to match it.
