Years ago I bought an Excalibur 9 tray from Excalibur. We try not to buy from Amazon because they are too big! The Excalibur people are so wonderful to work with. As far as I am concerned you can't beat Excalibur Dehydrator or Vitamix Blenders. Their customer service is incredible and they back their products!
•We have made fruit roll ups - fruit blended in the Vitamix and then spread on sheets in the Excalibur
• seed crackers
• dried pulp from Homemade Fire Cider blended to a powder for soups and stews
• My husband made jerky in two other dehydrators, round ones from thrift stores
I love our Excalibur and the other two thrift store ones ( can't remember the names)

My DH used one for jerky and drying pecans. After ours died the GS bought one from a sports store. The holes in the tray were too big for drying nuts. So I had some plastic mesh that I cut to fit the trays. Worked perfectly. Drying freshly shelled nuts took out the wild raw taste and left them nice and crispy

I've had the 5 tray Excalibur since 1976 & it's still going strong. I make jerky with it.
