Foods and arthritis
#1
My overall achiness is due to my arthritis. Have tried two prescriptions but I want to try to control this issue with more natural remedies. I've been reading that certain foods can trigger inflammation and I wondered if anyone has found any relief by altering their diet.
Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

Sugar is the ultimate inflammation-inducer in the body. Additionally, some foods convert to sugar in the body rather quickly, like white flour and fruits.
Vegetables are good inflammation-reducers. All cruciferous (broccoli, kale, cabbages, etc) are good choices. Cucumbers are, and a whole host of veggies.
Root vegetables are more like fruit, in that the root of these plants are the storage vessel for energy (sugar).

A friend suggested I drink 8 ounces of Cherry juice a day - and you know what - it works! Aches and pains are much less - as long as I remember to drink it daily. 100% Cherry juice, found in grocery stores.

A friend of mine told me this and then recently Prevention mag had it in it. Tumeric is good for aches and pains. You can even get it in pill form from the health food store.
My doctor said that flax seed has a natural anti-inflamatory in it.

I used to work at a health store many moons ago and this book was our best seller. It was about cutting down on acidic foods, maybe worth a look if your library has it

My cousin had problems with her knees, I had pain in my thumb and could not get rid of it. Her doctor told her to take 750 to 1000 mg fish oil a day, must have omega 3. Omega 3 is suppose to be really good for arthritus. We both are pain free. This is where I get my vitamins and fish oil
