HAHAHAHAHA sounds like something my DH would do- He loves to mess with telemarketers especially since we are on the Do not call list. When he gets them on his cell phone, he tells them he's not into porn and they best hang up before he calls the porn police on them .. OH lordy .. You should some of the reactions when we are out in public .. funny, but not, wait yes funny...

That is wonderful! I do "Can you hold for just a minute?" then lay the phone down, like Tink's Mom. This would waste even more of their time!

Hahaha. I love doing things like that. Depends on the mood I'm in to what attitude they get. The last one called as someone was at the door so I put the phone down by my dogs barking. After they were done barking there was nobody there. Imagine that. hehe.

One time I handed the phone to my DGS. He must have been about 6 or so. He thought the call was for him, he asked they lady if she wanted a play date with him. She must not have quite figured out she had a child on the phone. After a few moments he said, 'You come to my house and play and then I can go to your house and play.' She hung up on him. Six year olds love having phone calls.

Where's the fast come back when you need them? That was a good one. Wish I could remember it.
We would worry less about what others think of us if we realized how seldom they do.

[QUOTE=jeank;5358066]Many years ago I received one for new siding and windows. I just went into fake crying and said my husband left me, I have all these children and have had to go on welfare. But my windows are drafty and the children are sick. Do they think welfare would pay for the new windows?

They dont stay on the phone long after hearing that.

I had to laugh at this one because when they would call me about, new windows, siding, roof, etc. I would tell them that we didn't own the home we where living in. Never called again. The thing is that we were making house payment, but the bank had the note, so I didn't feel like I was lying to much. LOL. I love to play games with them.

I have started answering my un-known callers by saying "Hello this is Becky's Helpers & Cat Rescue, how can I help you?" Which this is no lie. They hang up right away. I guess they are afraid that I might ask them for a donation. LOL. I keep hoping that they will list me as a business (non-profit) except for all the cat purrs & leave me alone. Aren't we just awful.

Hilarious! But the calls are not so, we get them too, even though we are on the do not call list. I'm wondering if the list is a way for them to get everyone's phone number so they don't miss calling one! Seriously, it's such a nuisance.

Your response sounds great, I might try something like that next time...

We get a telemarketer call from a cruise ship line on our cell phone! And we do get the ones about credit card debt, I have told them to take us off their list. Because we have NO debt!!
Only payments we make are the truck payment and the mortgage. Utilities are a part of life so they don't go into the debt category.

I got that call soon after we moved into the current house we live in. I told the lady the house is only 5 yrs old, it doesn't need new windows. And could she personally call back in about 25 yrs and then we can talk new windows.

You all tickled my fancy with your creative responses to these unwanted calls - I think I'll sit down and brainstorm a few with my hubby for the upcoming months - Lord knows we'll all be getting a crazy amount for this upcoming national election.

At one time I had thousands in CC debt but it was all at 0% interest. I would get the calls offering to "lower my interest rate." I would ask, How much lower than ZERO can you get?

I once got a call from a co. selling lots at our local cemetary, I told them I already owned some there, He asked if I was satisfied with them? I told him I did not know I had not used them yet but check back after I died and we would discuss it, you know the rest.

Love it! I can remember I got years ago and the telemarketer asked was she speaking to the person in charge of the phone. I said yes and hung up. Guess I was in charge!

hmm...I get calls like that, too. And it's almost always "Rachel from Credit Card Services." And it's extremely annoying. The sad part is that Rachel is an automated message. One time I waited on the line to talk to a live rep, pressed numbers and waited again, only to get disconnected in the end! GRRR! There was nobody to talk to. What kind of telemarketing company is that?

There should be some kind of stricter regulation against them. I am on the DNC list but it doesn't seem to be working. Rachel better not show herself up my front door or I'll drag her all the way to the police station.

My friends suggested I pull up pranks on other telemarketers who call me, too. I found a lot of prank tips from http://www.callercenter.com/articles...marketers.html.

But my question is, is it legal to pull up pranks on these nuisance callers?? I'm afraid pranks would get me into trouble instead. My parents are not gonna like it. I'm only 21.

I did that kind of work for a while when I was between jobs, and I have to put in a word for the people on the other end. It is annoying, but they are just working people like you and me, making very small amounts of money for doing such a difficult job. When you waste their time, you are keeping them from moving on. Would you treat someone in a store like that? Is it because you can't see their faces that you feel it's ok to be rude and mean to them? Isn't it just as easy to say, "I'm sorry, I can't give to your cause, but I hope the next person makes a donation. Goodbye." Hang up politely. I know I sound sanctimonious, but gosh, I'm really surprised so many otherwise nice people think it's ok to do this. Many telemarketers are handicapped or have other reasons why they can't do a different job. I love a joke too, but I'd rather laugh with a friend or family member than make fun of a stranger. They know some people don't want their calls, but they have families to support, too. OK, stepping down off my soapbox.

    Telemarketers

One day I received a call from a telemarketer and asked him to please hold so I could turn my stove off. I the put the speaker phone on and finished cooking our supper. I heard him sigh several times, and then said to someone on his end "she said she just had to turn her stove off" He finally hung up after several minutes.

That's a good one! I love when they ask for the man or woman of the house. I reply "She/he left and said they were never coming back"!
If a woman's work is never done....why start?
