locking something up - with a key or the kind where you have to know the numbers.

Not sure what you mean. I use the garage door keypad to lock up but all the other doors are locked from the inside.
Not sure if this answers your question.

Essential oil diffuser or something else? (or nothing)

the reeds as a diffuser I love smelly things like that. I think they are great
