    Glorious sight today!!!

Thousands of geese flying straight north!!!!!!!!! So, spring must be right around the corner. DH was outside a lot this afternoon and kept coming to the door hollering for me to step out onto the porch/sidewalk to see the huge V's of geese flying/soaring north. It was very windy today with the wind coming from the south so they were taking advantage of the winds way up high.

The wind was not blowing here and we saw no geese. The wild biirds have been singing alot most days this winter.

They better land and rest for a long while yet. We have more snow here than we have had for years and years!

OH NO - wierd part is that we are expecting a horrible snow storm tomorrow night - but it is coming from the west and my DH said that these geese were going straight north so would not be flying into the storm. DH is outside a lot, being a farmer, and said that he has never seen so many geese in one day in his life. Thought that in one "V" there was a thousand birds.

We have seen robins twice. The first time was before Nemo, and then again we saw a group of over 10 yesterday. So we think they are on their way North. It's a good sign. :-)

Here in Central Texas we are waiting for the Martins to arrive, when I hear their sweet noise..I know that Spring has finally come...but we have been so blessed this year, the month of February we have beautiful days, sometime the temp has gone to 80 deg...it sure makes a person want to dig in the dirt...but still too early for planting, but not for cleaning beds..what fun!

That is a hopeful sign, though the geese here are staying put and filling the park with green poop. Haven't seen a robin yet, but then I usually don't see one this early.

When the more southern states, like Missouri were having those horrible ice storms, I looked out on my snowy landscape and in came a flock of Robins, landing in my little piece of woods, just outside my BR window. They had a total look of surprise as they landed and gazed at the snowy ground. Then they disappeared. Think they headed back south in disappointment.

We seem to always get the worst of our storms in February and March, just got through one that is now bigger and badder in Texas and Oklahoma. Hope you all are safe and warm. Didn't last too long, but messed up the roads a bunch. Enjoy the beauty, cause there isn't much else you can do

I see geese flying north all the time in winter, just not a lot of them at one time. The weather this year has been so crazy and we just statred getting snow in Feb, now, it won't stop and it seems that once a week we have a storm coming!

Just came home from a short journey and it lifted my spirits as there was masses of snowdrops in the roadside verges and the first young gamboling lambs, spring is coming

We have Canadian geese that arrived years ago and stayed, they fly over our house every morning and every evening.;....just over the roof top. Our subdivision has a large pond and there are lots of trees around and a city park. We live in North Texas, so it is a real treat to see these beautiful birds all the time.

Here in North Dakota I saw 2 groups of geese flying north. Is spring coming soon?

My daughter saw some robins a few weeks ago.

Just last night my husband said "look at all the honkers flying east" ... and as soon as they passed another huge flock went west. I came to the conclusion that geese are stupid.

We might get out of this alive?
But why, oh why, just as our hearts are getting lighter with the longer gentler days are they slamming us with DAYLIGHT SAVINGS and plunging us back into darkness. 12 days from now.
    Isn't that a light early.
And rabbits destroyed my garden this winter, sigh! TRees, shrubs, everything.

Again the weather has changed in Texas..the northern party of the state has blizzard and 40mph or more wind..central part had 50-52 mph winds, no rain..lots of electric lines down..traffic lights..what a mess..and even the southern most part of the state had these high winds..got to love it.!!! I guess we all have our own trouble with the weather..nothing to do but hang in there.

*80 !!!! We probably won't see 80 degrees until May here in Chicago!!!! And it looks like we will finally be getting snow over a foot this year. At least we haven't had to shovel much this winter!!!!

At our apt. complex we have a small pond.....On last Thurs. I was driving out the gate and lo and behold there were 2 canadian geese who had dropped in for a short drink and swim/rest. I have never seen any canadians here ( just north of Dallas) before although there is a game reserve just north of here about 40 miles. Maybe they had to rest before flying on there. But it was a great sight to see.
