My fur babies get one of their shots this way but I never have. I don't do flu shots so a shot for me is a rarety.

DH and I have already gotten ours. Dr told him we should also get the Shingles vaccine (haven't yet, it's pricey and not at Dr's).

As an asthma patient, I have to have a flu shot every year. We get ours thru the local senior care group. They hold a 3 day event by appointment only. You drive into the hospital garage parking, sign the paper and the nurse administers the shot. You never get out of the car, just stick your arm out the window. This is a free program to those over 50. Might be a little tenderness for a day or so but nothing more.

RenaB,
Our whole family had the flu in 1976. My children were 5 & 10 at the time and it was horrible. My daughter (age 5) and I were too sick to go to the dr. My aunt came to stay and faced a mountain of sheets, towels and night clothes in the bathtub. Mine was the worst case - I did not go downstairs for over 3 weeks and lost close to 30 lbs. Not an experience I wish to have again.

You got your flu shot too soon. My doctor will not give them until Nov 1st. He says it takes about 20 days after a shot for it to be effective, then good only for 3 months. You might need to get another one after three months. They were giving flu shots at Walgreens Sept 1st. Way too early.

Idaho Sandy has a point. We usually get ours in November.

First off, good luck with your hip surgery. I'm sure you'll be surprised how simple it is and how the pain will be stopped dead in it's track.

I got the flu shot and had not problems at all. Hubby got his and has been sick with a cold but I'm trying to tell him it wasn't the SHOT that did it.

When my husband was at the Naval Academy they used needleless injections. To clean the apparatus out the corpsmen used to hit the injector and shoot the substance across the room.

Will be thinking of you when you get your surgery and praying for swift recovery. My plan is to get my flu shot soon.
