We camped on sandy beaches. They provided a soft pad and sleeping bags. Didn't need tents - too warm and no rain. It was 280 river miles. We passed the North/South rim on about day 3. There were two big rafts with 10 people on each raft. The boatmen (2 per boat) took such good care of us, told us facts about what we were seeing. In the evenings they fixed us great food and they had guitars, etc. We want to do the trip again!!

The trip started at Lees Ferry, a about 1/2 hour road from the North Rim, and ended at the beginning of Lake Mead (Las Vegas). There not many places from the top that you can see the Colorado River below.

Sometimes it's amazing the rocks that have fallen down.

Our first rapid we came to. Just enough to get splashed.

Hey, I just discovered the photo (above) that didn't come through is a movie filie! I didn't know they would load here. It shows the raft going thru the rapid. So it downloads to watch.

Not really. The majority of the group were in their late 60's. We were the young'ens in the early 50's. Hikes are optional.
