Default Granddaughter want a new blanket

    Hello all,
I have a question about fabric quality.

My granddaughter wants me to make her a new blanket. My question is this: She would like the blanket made out of Minky Dots. So, I went to Joann fabrics, Walmart and online shops. All with very different prices. Is the quality that much different as the prices are? I just want something that will last and not fall apart after the firs washing.

    Thank you
    Nancy

Wish I knew. I generally buy fleece at Walmart and it seems ok. Will watch this thread to see what kind of answers you get!

I have heard that the dimple dot minky can't be over heated or the dimple dots will flatten out, though.

I don't think there's a great difference in quality. Be careful not to iron the minkybdot fabric; you will never get the dots to puff out again.

I actually think there is a difference. I bought some cheap stuff and the dye ran terribly and ruined my quilt top. Another that i bought, when i washed it it had a rough, alsmost stiff feel to it. I will never buy the cheap stuff again.

I agree with fq: I bought some solid broadcloth at Joann's to finish a baby quilt and it is horrible. Stiff, thin, not at all suitable. We no longer have a decent quilt shop in town, so I will have to travel a longer distance for decent fabric.
