Grandkids-the greatest joy
#1
We had our grandkids lastnight & they are such a joy. They are 6 & 9 years old, very well behaved kids, & the best looking kids on this planet. :D I lost my temper & blew up on their mother over a year ago & since then we are only able to see the kids 'once a month & that's when she says so". This has been 15 months ago & last night sitting around the bon fire my grandson was talking he didn't want to go home but he had to & then he said "Well we moved last yr in June, what month is it now Oct? We've only been here about 7 times so we still have at least 3 times that we haven't been able to come" His math isn't the greatest yet but he was right on it, he KNOWS that he's been cheated out of 3 months of visiting G'ma & G'pa! SIX yrs old & he knows! They are such a blessing in my life & I can only hope one day she realizes & comes to some sort of agreement so this all can be resolved. I mean if a 6 yr old can figure it out.....c'mon let's be adults & figure this out. Since they are off school tomorrow for Columbus Day he thinks he should be able to come back & use one of his days that they slighted him out of! It just tickled me when he said this & I told him he could come back any time he wanted to so he is going home to ask his Mom if he can come back tonight! Isn't that wonderful how a young mind works? He is something else. I just had to share this with you because they put so much joy in my world just being here for one day. It's been hard not seeing them but knowing they realize it's not right either makes it a little easier on me. He at least knows it's not us keeping him from coming. Gotta love em! :D

I feel for you, we only see our GK's about twice a year and they are only 3 hours away. They never come up to see us and they never invite us down there.(the parents) We always have to initiate it.
It is so sad when you hear about everyone else that has very close relationships with their GKS and you feel like you are missing out. Glad you had a great visit.
Let me guess, this is your DIL and not your DD?

My youngest Grandson is coming next weekend from Ohio he is 4 and a handful. They are starting to take turns coming with Dad when he comes up. My oldest Grandson (12) told his stepmom now he wants a turn. They are such a joy!! Enjoy them when you can!

i am so very fortunate in that i get to see mine about 2x/wk. even the 2yo asks to go visit Nana. and it's not that i'm easier on them. in fact, i think i'm stricter. my 9yo DGS wants to learn to knit, to the chagrin of his father. he sees what can be made with yarn and wants to be able to do that himself. he's a great combo of athlete and sweetheart. all 4 of them have different personalities and i just love watching them develop. i am truly blessed.

I am so lucky to have my DGD living with me. Her other GM is in Georgia so she can only see her twice a year. It nearly broke my heart when DGD was two and told her other grandma she wanted to go home to her "real" grandma's house. I told her give it a couple years and I would just be grandma and she would be the fun grandma. DGD is 8 now and my prediction has come true. I am the one with the rules and all and for three weeks a year her other grandma is the fun one. That's OK by me.
