My mom was a key punch operator then a computer programmer back in the late 50's through the 60's. This is exactly what the computers looked like where she worked. HUGE! And they had big rooms full of them. They processed work for utility companies, banks, and hospitals.

My Dad worked for the Department of Defense on computers in 56-65. They took up whole rooms.
