Default My Juki 2010Q Story....So Far

First, let me thank all of the nice people who gave me their thoughts on their Juki's as I had been contemplating getting the 2010Q. Well, I did! It is great, however, sometimes things don't go smoothly.

I got it home a week ago and it sews great and feels nice and sturdy. Then, I put the walking foot on to try some straight-lined quilting and it was okay for about 3 minutes and then I heard this loud, squeaky sound. I immediately checked the bobbin, re-threaded the top, and checked to see that I put the walking foot on correctly....it still squeaked. Then, I checked online and found several people had the same problem with the walking foot, loud and squeaky. I went back two days later to the dealer and he tried to fix it (I knew he wasn't going to be able to because the people online did the same thing and it ended up with them having to get a new walking foot). Anyway, the dealer gave me a generic one and I used it for a couple of days...and last night the squeaking is back but not as loud. I had used the walking foot on my old machine for a couple of years and never had a problem. I hate having to go back again but I have to find out what is going on. As I said it is not as loud but I don't want to be doing damage to the machine.

Another thing...but it was rectified right away was the foot pedal made a weird noise like the spring was not working (this was my second trip back to the dealer after getting the walking foot replaced but before finding out the new squeaked too). The foot pedal problem is solved as they gave me a new one.

I never even tried the needle-threader...I didn't want to push my luck...lol.

The stitches and the feel of the machine are great so I am hoping to get this walking foot problem solved.

I would love to know if any of you have experienced this. Thanks so much!

I don't have a Juki, but my walking foot squeaked also. I took it off the machine, sprayed just a little WD-40 where I thought it squeaked, moved parts that moved and let it set for a day or two in case there was any oil coming out, whipped it off, and has worked great ever since.

Like Sandra said, it is more than likely just a matter of metal-on-metal and a drop of oil can work wonders. My FMQ foot sliding up and down on the needle shaft makes an ungodly noise, but when it shatters my serenity, I put a drop of oil. PS, I have the Brother PQ1500s, very like the Juki. Often I don't even use the walking foot, I just use the pin feed.

I oiled mine--it was squeaking, but that fixed it.

I would ask the dealer to replace the Juki foot with a Juki foot. I have not had problems with mine but my sister-in-law did and her dealer gave her a new Juki foot.

You might want to try silicone lubricating spray as it is a lubricant and doesn't dry up as quickly as WD40. WD40 is a penetrating oil to loosen things, and dries up in a short period of time. Check it on the internet WD40 vs Silicone lubricating spray.

If you bought that Juki new then I feel that the dealer should have replaced the walking foot with a new Juki foot. Don't accept a generic on a new machine.
