Tink had a discussion with one that looked like that adult possum. Not a nice animal! The snarls were fierce coming from both of them...The possum was on the garbage can and Tink had gone out to answer nature's last call before bed.

( those babies are really sweet!)

Those babies are sure cute. Not at all like the ones on the farm that our dogs seemed to like to aggravate. Many times our Siberian Husky had to go to the vet to have them taken out because he never learned to stay away. The other dogs eventually left them alone but not the Husky!

How absolutely adorable - are the spines soft or hard at that age?

I really hate to do this .... they are PRECIOUS babies ... but they are not porcupines :-/ They are hedgehogs .... African hedgehogs to be specific ....

The main difference between hedgehogs and porcupines is their quills. Hedgehogs just have a thick hair not a true quill. While their hair is extremely tough and can be extremely prickly, they do not leave the body and enter their enemies. A porcupines quill is attached via a ball and socket and when bumped into they will dislodge and stick into whoever is close to them.

I am really sorry to correct you but I work in the education department at a zoo and I couldn't stop myself :-/

Awwwww! Those are the cutest things!

Now, that possum is an ugly critter. My dogs catch those suckers often around here.

My dogs too, in other states. Kind of funny here in my recent neighborhood ;-) My neighbors are shocked when I show them the picture.
