We really enjoyed this movie! We're both of the age where we remember the marches, the racial tensions, etc., so we could appreciate the characters' fears and the danger they faced. The movie walks a thin line between being humorous (i.e., telling tales) and describing what it was like back then (e.g., segregation). I wonder if today's "kids" can appreciate this movie, if appreciate is the right word?

I just checked. It was Ron Howard's daughter who played the one who ate the pie and Emma Stone who played Skeeter. Cicely Tyson played the one who raised Skeeter and I believe Sissy Spacek played the mother of the one who ate the pie.

I haven't seen it yet, but did read the book "with my ears" on my IPod as I was woking on a quilt. Then came the Quilting Fairy Godmother post, and I got the pattern, with the book still in my head this is what I envisioned. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-138577-1.htm
Now I NEED to see the movie!

I used to have a white 61 Rambler, it had a push button pad on the left to change gears!! It was my first car, just like the one in front of Hilly's house when she had the party. My Dad worked for American Motors for years. Good times back then.
