My sewing room is the only room that is cluttery and mostly disorganized at any given time. I don't even have a junk drawer in my kitchen or have anything stored in any top shelf of cabinets or closets. I don't mind friends seeing my sewing room mess at all. I think they like it.

My sister and 2 nieces came over and while they were here, the girls wanted to know if I had any leftover trims, ribbons, etc to decorate things for their college apartments. Well, we "single filed" into my sewing room to get to the stuff. HaHa They didn't say a word though!
Later in the week, I got an energy spurt and decided to "straighten" up so I could also use my computer in there. (It's also suppose to be my office!) Oh, it looks so good now...the floor is clean. I'm not stepping over things. Everything is dusted! YEAH!!
BUT ALL THE EXCESS IS NOW IN THE HALLWAY, THE LIVING ROOM AND MY BEDROOM!!!!!

Mine is kept pretty clean as it is also the "family room" there are 3 computers and a fire place and a couch in there as well. Plus we have to walk into the room to get into the garage.
So, Yes, I invite people into my sewing room all the time.

If they cant understand that creativity makes a mess then they dont have to look. The rest of my home is clean and orderly because theres nothing going on in there. But my studio well thats a different story, theres always at least 3 projects going at one time. When I get to feeling bad about the mess I go to the garage where sweetie does woodworking, mechanical stuff, and you know guy projects, and it too is messy. We both hate clutter and live a very simple life, but we both have a space dedicated to the creative side. I fretted for a long time about the mess, and he finally told me "Its a work shop, if its not messy your not working!" So I say invite them in and show them what you do and enjoy the passion that's a part of you.

I bought my first house in December and made the dining room my sewing room as my DD and SIL are staying with me while she is out of work. I have the fabric in cabinets but if you go past living room you have to pass thru sewing room. I have learned one thing. Let them come thru. Almost everyone has stopped and looked at projects in progress, ones waiting to be quilted, etc. and seem to really enjoy looking. I think they see the creative process more and we see the clutter more.

Girl cave is in the basement. Not a place where visitors woud go - unless the boys have friends over and they want to play Air Hockey.
I have so say - been watching your evolving sewing room pictures and I'm getting ready to rearrange so that I can hang things from pegboard! you are doing great!

I'm always taking people into my sewing room because that's where everything is that I/they want, need, are looking for, want to see, are curious about and ................... and they marvel at how I know where exactly everything is amid all the chaos!
