I use dawn and let it set. It's the first piece I work on. Actually, when I sort the clothes for the laundry that's when I use it. I keep a small (older bottle of dawn) at the washer. I use it on my husband's collars and the under arms of the shirts. I do the shirts and blouses last. They come out great. One thing I've done also is use the Resolve on the inside of the washer tub. I give it a good spritz and throw my dust rags that I've used furniture polish/spray and wash on hot and a full load cycle.

I use AWESOME All Purpose Cleaner..... I purchase mine from the Dollar Tree......You must use this before you wet the shirt. Also after applying the cleaner let it set before laundering the shirt....Works for me.

I buy AWESOME from the dollar store, spray it on and I use a spoon and work it into the the spot...it works on the toughest spots there is. Gets the spegetti stains out of my light blue quilted placemats!

I have used Greased Lightning to get out grease spots, even ones "cooked" in the dryer. I have found it at Wal-Mart and at my grocery store. I also double rinse clothes, especially white ones, and very rarely use bleach. Soap and fabric softener can accumulate in clothes and they tend to get dingy. I double rinse because of allergy issues.

For years I used Spray 'n Wash Stain Stick with great success (including on that kind of grease spot). I can't seem to find it anymore so now I use Resolve Pre-Treat (also by Spray 'n Wash) and get good results with that also.

Take the garment to the dry cleaners and never, ever use a dryer sheet with that garment again. You can get lots of stains out with OxyClean, which is a staple at my house, but I've never had any luck getting grease stains out with it.

I need help removing grease-like stains/spots from knit shirts that appear after they are washed and dried. Does anyone know what causes them and how to get rid of them? They usually appear on dark colored polo type knit shirts and look like a grease spot. I tried putting in the detergent and letting the washer fill with water before adding the clothes but I still get these spots. Also, once I get them is there any may to remove them? Thanks to anyone who can give me some advice on this.

Here in Australia, we have a product called "WD40" and what I do to remove grease and oil stains is to spray the stain with the WD40 and then immediately squirt some dishwashing detergent onto the stain, rub it in thoroughly and then throw it into the wash. So far, I have had 100% success rate using this method. I hope this works for you. Good luck.
