Karla, I've been so busy lately that I missed this when it was first posted! That is always a "hold your breath moment" isn't it? So nice of the ladies to let Jazz in...I love to see the whole herd together. Just when you think its all peaceful....someone just has to snort and then the ears get laid back...then...whew..just a warning, all is well again.
Keep sharing your pics, they are always great!

I was shaking hoping no one would kick and a baby would get hurt. I was very proud of Rosie especially because she's only two--and two year olds can not always act according to proper herd behavior--but she never kicked once. She hollered a lot though.
I love having all the pasture open to all horses. I relax at school--not having to worry about moving horses around and if they're bored stuck in one pasture all day. But, the foals should be weaned soon--so it'll come to an end in a few weeks.
I took so many photos that morning... I've edited others--as I should have to some of these before I posted them--but that's okay--you got the idea.

Oh Karla, you know we don't worry about your editing...we just love to see ALL the photos! I wish we could open up the whole farm to all the cows and horses but our "neighbor" has a 5 yr. old BULL (no they don't have any cows) and a 2 yr. old STUD (that has never been touched) along with his Mama and another mare in their pasture that borders ours. We've spend $1200.00 on electric fencing to keep the bull away from our cows. I refuse to let our horses even close to the fence. We keep the horses on the other side of our farm..as far away as possible!
Oh sorry...got on a rant there...Your Rosie would be well mannered at 2...She seems to be pretty laid back..or am I wrong?

oh gosh, sandpat--the stud is in with his mother and another mare? Never been touched, eh? Great. :? I can certainly see why your horses are kept on the other side.
Rosie is gentle and kind, but more high strung--for example, I didn't take her close to the Quail Summit residents because she's more liable to lift her head in a second--just more like that. But, she's pretty calm other wise. I thought for sure she'd buck about when in the pasture with the foals for the first time, but she was awesome--never lifted a hoof. Now she'll lay down on cue!! :D :D :D It was one of my summer goals. The only glitch is she'll only lay down in one spot. We're working on that.
The potential buyers come Sunday... holding my breath.
Off to school....

Lay down on que? Wow...and I'm still working on teaching ours to "stretch out" when we want to get on and off. Progress is slow I'll tell you.
Rosie will get it eventually...thats funny that she'll only do it in one spot.
Hope the potential buyers turn out to be all you hope for.

I can't decide right this minute whether we should have stuck with just one horse. I will say that we definetly should have not mixed the mare and gelding. He cornered her today between the fence (barbed wire) and the water trough and hammered her with both back feet like a mule. She is cut all over her side and I'm very upset with both of them. Of course, she started it....but whoa! I saw it from far away..I was mowing down the street and I was sure he was gonna kick her through the fence. If we have to separate them I don't know what we're gonna do with them. Our neighbor sure does limit our options.
Jazz and Tucker would be great together though....2 geldings....perfect! And remind them that horses (even little ones) are "herd" animals!

But, but, but... I don't want to sell Tucker today. :(
Oh--I feel for you about that kicking... ouch. It's upsetting when they don't get along. :( I've found my fillies get along the best--the mares next--but not if they're both hanging their heads over their stall gates.
