Ok, so why do hot dogs come in a package of 10 and the buns in a package of 8?? I mean REALLY!? Why is that?

Not to offend, but me thinks there might be a man involved! LOL Just kidding.

The real reason is that each manufacturer has its own interests. They aren't the same entity. Hot dog manufacturers prefer to have packages weigh exactly a pound. It's easier to measure, sell, store, etc. Thus there are packages with 6 or even 4 larger, but the weight should add up to a pound, regardless. It happens to be that the most manageable size of hot dogs are an eighth of a pound, or 2 ounces.

I just figure "they" sell it that way for those of us who buy them for family reunions. Eventually you will even out the numbers. :P

there was a scene in Father of the Bride where George (played by Steve Martin) goes to the grocery story and complains about the same thing and he starts opening all the packages of buns. Funny movie.

Not everyone likes to eat their hot dogs in a bun, or hamburgers for that matter. I prefer eating one (if I eat one at all, it's been a couple years) with a fork, or in a tortilla with some chilli. I don't eat my burgers in a bun, again, a kife and fork will do for me! And skip the ketsup!!!!
