When we bought our house we thought that we would be closer to work--for a while we were driving just 7 and 10 miles. OOPs switched jobs and now I drive 32 miles but this is my home and I would not give it up.

I'll tell you what I told my own kids...FIRST of all, beg, buy or
borrow a police radio so you can get the police calls. Write down
every address where they are called. This might shock you, since
in my own town a very nice looking area has masses of gang fights
and drug dealing!!

Also, go around the your chosen neighborhood at all times of the day,
and especially during the week end, day AND night time. Wouldn't hurt
to drive through it after midnight with car windows down, listening to
party times around that area. After all, you will have to live there,
no matter what, after you've signed for 30 years of payments!

congrats on your house hunting. I loved my house, but we lost it after having it for 15yrs do to my disability. I did the reverse I am back in a tiny duplex. I hope you find a nice big one were you have tons of room for your fabric. Penny

Have fun....it took us an entire year to find "the right house". We have been here close to 13 years and are deciding if we need/should downsize. So exciting, but daunting too.
