how can people be bored?

Some people are workaholics, and have no life outside work. I do not share their sentiment. I love vacation, but I can personally get bored because I have a short attention span so stuff doesn't interest me long, but I do like time off as long as it is not too long

I work 4 night shifts(12 hrs) every week , so that doesn't leave a lot of time , but i fill every moment , and when on my holidays I still dont find enough time for doing stuff I like , I have a male workmate who is in his thirties and single , and he has to be allmost forced to take any time off , I agree with the comment boredom==lack of imagination

I was born in the 40's and I we were never depressed or bored. I think it just something the younger generation says. I used to tell my kids when they said they were bored, that a person should be smart enough to figure something out to do.. Probably traumatized them!!! That is another word we never used... Geez Life is too short!

We learned not to say we were bored when I was a kid. If we said that, my mom would find a chore for us to do and we soon learned that we had better find something to do and not be whining or we would be doing tasks we didn't want to do.

I am newly retired and until I got into the groove of it, I was bored. Now there don't seem to be enough hours in the day for all the things I want to do plus take a nap! I read, sew, shop, take day trips with DH, cook, garden, and just sometimes sit and watch TV (although not much on.) Next week I get to host the grand child (yippee) and just love on her. Bored? Me? Rarely and glad of it!
