I watched a Nova documentary on dreams yesterday. It was about what is the purpose of dreams? Why did Mother Nature make us, and other animals, dream? It had some studies where people were tested on certain skills and then when they slept they were either woken up before dreaming, after REM sleep, or dreaming without REM sleep.

They found that the people who dreamed about the tests improved dramatically more than people who didn't.

I wonder if dreaming of quilting makes a person a better quilter/piecer.

Eat, sleep, think, dream, 'see quilts in other things', see patterns where there aren't patterns.....
it's those voices too --"buy me, take me home"...

It's in the blood.

It is very possible. When I was 20yrs old, my little brother (16 at the time) was recruited to teach me how to drive my car. I had bought a car with a manual transmission and didn't know how to drive it. My brother was my personal chauffer for awhile. If I wanted to go somewhere, he had to drive me. Believe me..it sucked. I finally got fed up and made him teach me. It was horrible! I tried for over a week and still could not figure it out. I am very surprised I didn't ruin that transmission. Then one night I dreamt about that car and me driving it. The dream felt so real that when I woke up I was confused as to where I was. I went out to the car later in the day for another lesson and lo and behold, I managed to actually get the car moving without jerking/stalling! I was so happy!! So, as you can tell...anything is possible!

I'll read your dreams. Probably the same as mine.

I just remembered one: (that was quick ;) )
Skeet was talking on a thread one time about somebody coming up with a machine where you could adjust the size of the height where you stuff the quilt...you know, from the bed, to the top of the head? of the machine...makes sense to me....anyway I dreamt:
that I saw a new machine that had stretching capabilities like a marshmallow.
It was a white, puffy machine, and looked like it was "breathing"...

Was your pillow still there when you woke up? So funny, but that would be nice, an adjustable sewing machine....hhhuuuummmmm.

Haven't dreamt about quilting yet, but I have had a couple of unusual dreams lately.

You know those one-armed dressy dresses that all the celebs seem to be wearing now? I hate them, just hate them, but in my dream I was wearing one, and I looked utterly fantastic! I kept saying, "If only it had a sleeve on the other side..." but I didn't want to change to another dress because that one made me look so awesome (far better than I'd look in real life).

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I've been wondering all day what to make of the dream. Maybe I need to quilt another sleeve onto the dress, lol.

I don't know if makes you better, but I think you know you're constantly working on it. I'm forever trying to solve things in my dreams.
