Why not? The ketchup available for domestic use has less preservatives that the one used at restaurants. It should be refrigerated once opened. Is high in sugars and bacteria grows in it very quickly.

If the food is sealed in an air proof container then it will last for several years, regardless what type food it is. It may not have the same nutrients but it won't hurt you. Once a food is opened the shelf life is very short. Most dates a website will give you are best by dates because exp. dates are varied by storage conditions.
Did you know if you keep beef at a temp of 33º-34º loosely covered for up to two weeks, you have perfectly aged beef that adds $$$ to the lb. I age prime rib and roasts this way. It's like eating beef at a 5 star restaurant.

I looked up canola oil which I keep in the frig it said to keep in pantry. I used to until it turned rancid and was so yucky. Since it is taste free who cares if is cold when I use it.
