My hours have just reduced from 24 to 13 hours a week. I now have more time to spend on here, and quilt, and I have started doing my mum's garden for her.

Most of the jobs are not lost, they have simply been moved to China, India and other far off places where companies feel it is in their best interest to replace American workers with workers who are paid pennies an hour and have no benefits. Don't expect much improvement until Americans put on enough pressure that policy makers end unfair trade practices.

I was with a company for 11 years, and was let go in April. Yesterday was the first interview since, today the same place gave me a phone interview, and if I passed that today, they will call me and set up a drug screening, and I will be hired. I know I will have no problem with the drug test, I just hope I did ok with the 2nd interview, things are getting really tight!

Hubby has been laid off three times in the past 5 years. First one he had to go to Mexico to train them to do his job. Second one three years ago, and after getting him a job with my company for 3 months we were both let go March 09.
I try to stay positive, we have our health, pray to keep my boys safe and return home safely (Irag and Afganistan), we have a small 401K that is paying to mortage for now. Hope something comes up soon for us and all of you.

My husband & I own a small carpet cleaning & dyeing company. He does the work and I answer the phone and do the office work. It has been so slow this summer. Summers are usually are busiest time. I hope & pray that it picks up soon. I sure would like to hear some good news about the economy and see people getting jobs instead of losing them!!
