I am an organ donor, and I am on the blood marrow list as well - but cannot donate blood as I had a blood transfusion in Africa in the 1980s. Ridiculous, our blood bank will not . accept my blood due to this, and I am O+, but the organ people are happy to take me.

I'm with you, once I'm done with this body, they can have what ever they want. I am an organ donor and have been for many many years. I also told my children before they became of age, that if anything ever happened to them, I'd donate any of their useable organs. They agreed and are still donors. We need everyone to do this, to save other lives.

This is so awesome. Organ Donors..God Bless You all. I have worked in Dialysis and Transplant for over 30 years and I certainly see the lives saved or given a better quality of life by transplant. On June 19, 2010 there is a Kidney Walk fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation in St. Louis, MO. I know that they are all over the country but at different dates. If ANYONE is interested in participating or donating even just $1 the website is www.kidneywalk.org. My team is the St. Louis location, name of team is KIDney ROCKers if you'd like to and/or are able! I have seen what this organization has done for many people, especially those on dialysis, from helping with insurance premiums, transportation, food and clothing, etc.

I had a go around with my ex over this. His idea was you leave with what God gave you so I had to put it to him as what if one of our children needed a transplant to live? Would he accept a great gift or let them die. I think he had never thought about where that gift would come from before. I am happy to say that there was a beautiful heart on his license after that until the day he past.

My youngest son just signed up as a donor. I am very proud of him; but hope I never live to see it happen.

I used to be, but my health won't permit it now. I lost my
oldest GS Dec. 1st and he was an organ donor and he has
given 6 people a new chance at life, including a 2-yr old boy
that the doctors said didn't have long to live w/out a new
kidney!! We are very proud of his decision to give even in
death! Everyone should think about donating!!
