Sheila, once the organs are removed, the person's body is released to the family for funeral and burial, just like everyone else.

I am currently being assessed for lung transplant in Canada and the circumstances needed to make that a reality are quite rare. We only get about 12 single lung transplants a year here in Vancouver BC.

Both my husband and myself are organ donors. We've spoken extensivly about not only that happening but if the Body Farm (TN) wants us they are more than welcome to us after that event occurs. If not than we are to be burried in paupers graves and the money givin to future children if not family.

Everyone should tell their sig. other what their wishes are. There are too many cases of families fighting over what happens next to not have the conversation. I know that it can be hard to do but it is very ness.

I have kidney failure. I am NOT on a list for transplant because I have had cancer in the last few years, must be cancer free for five years. Also And this one cuts me out for good. Any thing put into my body, man made or cadaver, my blood clotts it off. That is why my kidneys failed in the first place--the renal vein clotted off, and maybe because medical people could not find what was wrong for weeks the kidney died.
But I know many people from my dialysis center that are on the list and waiting. Many of these people are wonderful and have much to offer but are severely hampered by the kidney disease. I would like to see all of these people get kidneys.
So a big THANK-YOU to all of you willing to donate.

I have. I personally don't care what they do with my carcass when I'm done with it - but if I can help another person in any way, I want to. It would be my last Act of Kindness.

If you haven't signed up, please think about it, and talk with your family members about it for themselves too.
Yes I too am an organ doner!! :XD:

i am an organ donor too..but i can't even donate blood anymore. they consider Fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disease, and won't let me donate anymore.
but the liscense has donor on it, and my family knows my wishes..they can make that decision when the time comes.

30 years ago, my high school friend died waiting for a heart. she left a husband and a 3 year old.

My DIL's 22 month old nephew is getting a heart today. Please pray for all the family, the doctors and the baby's family that gave up the heart.

My brother is waiting for a liver he has a very rare genetic disease he is currently #1 on the list and I pray and organ becomes available before he is to ill to qualify or have the strenth to recover.

Until this touch you or your family you have no idea what a organ can do to give a loved one back their life and the ability to lead a normal life again

Thank you all for being donors !!!! It truly is the gift of life for someone in need.

I am a donor and my DH is a recepient. Without somebody's generosity my DH would be legally blind. After a corneal transplant he has better vision than I do.
