Maybe this is why I'll never be called an "artist"??? To me, art is pretty, and that sure isn't! But then, I'd never even think up something like that!

Yup, my first thought also. Then I wanted to cry. :(

It looks like something a kindergarten art class would do. I think it would be better if it was covered in macaroni! The seller says she has been an designer for 11 years. I won't even look at her other creations after seeing this tacky thing.

I guess she was having a bad day and had to take it out on something. How ugly and what a sad way to treat a FW.

I thought something similar. Why did they glue cereal to the sewing machine? I collect seashells and vintage sewing machines but why? Sad little machine.

O.K. I could not resist and checked her other listings. She uses and is a Feather Weight collector. Has over 150 machines and is a bear making artist. I wonder if there was something with that machine and she recycled it because it was not usuable as a sewing machine? She lists another Feather Weight as a museum quality FW and the price is over $600 right now.

1. She said it outlived use as a sewing machine
2. It is hers to do what she will
3. Transforming into an object d'art is preferable to loading up landfills.
4. Everyone is an art critic - Sheesh! I don't understand all the hateful responses. If your creations were not appreciated, would you want critiques like that?

OK so there's no quilt police here, but there's a whole lot of people who don't mind slamming someone else's effort in other areas!?

What if it was a rusting piece of motor of some derelict boat that just happened to be in the shape of a FW? Would that be OK?

IF you had read the entire post on ebay you would have read that this person is an experienced restorer of FWs and felt this one was beyond repair and decided to let the ocean work its magic. With the Gulf of Mexico contaminated with billions and billions and trillions of particles of life-robbing petro products, I would be HONOURED to have a reminder of the work that Mother Nature does each and everyday.

How would you feel if you found out that one of the members of this board who restores FWs is the seller of this item? Egg on face/foot in mouth OMG reactions I am sure.

For the first time in almost three years I am seriously considering deleting this forum from my book marks.... SHEESH!

I think this is what happens when people value mass-production over individual creativity. Sad, very sad. I wonder if some of these have commented on Lost in 51's paint jobs.
