Hey is anyone else having a fun time with ark building.

8 inches on rain since Friday and counting. I have lived in my house 26 years and neer had a drop of water, and in a matter of 1 1/2 hours, my basement went from dry to 4 inches of water.

Using two pumps, I have successfully reduced the water level to 3 1/2". At least it has stopped rising.

Rain is not supposed to stop until 1 AM.

Guess the trash man will have a big haul this week.

Oh NO!!!! I am so sorry!!! I have been flooded and understand and feel your pain :(:(:( I hope that it stops and this is the first and last time this happens to you!!!

That is horrible. We had a house flood a number of years back. It broke my heart to have to throw some of the memory items away. My heart goes out to you.

Oh boy. That stinks. I've had my share of floods and know what you're going through. So sorry about your troubles. We've been hit with the storm as well, but (knock wood) no water in basement. We did major work down there a few years back to insure water wouldn't be a problem again and I'm sooooooo glad we did! We were fortunate in our area - no power outages,no downed trees, not bldg. damages and no lost lives! Other ares were not so lucky.

We went to Michigan a few years ago and came back to 12 inches of water in the basement, first time ever. We were, however able to salvage quite a bit. Lost the freezer and spent weeks drying the carpet. We had to put it on milk containers and keep fans on it 24 hrs a day. But, it didn't hurt the washer and dryer, the two funaces or the water heater, PTL. Good luck. I feel for you since I've been there.

been there...the night that it flooded twice and went back down and then the third time, it was sewerage and stayed...YUCK!...I was sitting on top of the washer and crying. My husband was out of town on business and my boys and my grandfather slept thru it all....
Sorry to hear about your flood...I used to keep 4 paint cans behind the basement sofa so that I could put the cans under the legs of the sofa...
BTW, we have flood control, now.

The good news is that it has finally stopped raining - 3 days and 10 inches later. The water level is now down to 1 1/2 inches. The pumps are still working and hopefully the water has stopped coming in and we can jsut keep on pumping.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

This was so bizarre, since we have had more rain in the past and not a drop of water in the basement. It must be to combination of the still semi frozen ground and lots of rain in March just after the snow melt. Hopefully it never happens again.

978gray I feel for you. We've had a lot of water problems in our basement. One summer we were coming home from visiting our son in Michigan when we saw on the news that Fargo had a lot of rain & a lot of basements were getting water in. Yep, we came home to our whole basement covered in water not as deep as yours but it was a mess but at least not sewage. Now Fargo has made the national news once again with the flood this year. They're saying it should crest between 38' & 39' instead of the record 40.82 feet last year. I sure hope they are right. Good luck on your clean up.

I have always felt sorry for people suffer water damage, but now living through it is something else. I truly feel bad for all who suffer from flooding. We are one of the lucky one with only had 4 inches. Many here are still pumping and had feet in their basements. The rivers have all crested and slowly making it back into their banks. Luckily it has been in the 60's and sunny the last couple of days. I hope it lasts through the weekend.

We are getting through the clean up. The good news is it was ground water - no septic or sewerage. The bad news is my back hurts and so do my arms, not to mention it has put a crimp in my quilting.

I see that Fargo is suffering now, and my heart goes out to all there.

The river at 10:00 tonight was at 36.84' & they're saying it should crest about 37 1/2' tomorrow. The weather has gotten cold so it has helped slow the rise but now north of us they are starting to have a lot of problems with overland flooding & some ice jams so things aren't looking good for them right now. I sure hope it crests tomorrow but they say it will stay high for a couple of weeks so we won't be out of the woods for a while yet.
