Default I am going to New Zealand!

DH and I just got a package deal to go to Auckland, New Zealand in May. Anybody ever been. What should we see and what will the weather be like?

I have never been there, but would love to go some day. My brother had been there a few times, and said it was a beautiful county.

We've had the pleasure of visiting NZ twice. There is so much to see! We rented a car and crisscrossed both islands on our first trip, and on the second spent most of the time in the Northland. We hope to go again. Have fun!

We had a few days in Auckland several years ago. We went on a trip to Pahia, Bay of Islands, and it was beautiful. We also went to the tip of the island, Cape Moringa ( I think) and that was great - the 90 mile beach was fun and the giant trees - prehistoric ones, salvaged from the swamp were awesome. I forget the exact name of them.
The tip of the island, beach and trees were a day trip which ended with the bus driver serenading us on the way home. A most memorable time, those few days.
Enjoy!

I am too but I never tried to go because of such a long flight. I don't think I could survive an 18 hour flight. And I am one who had my pilot's license !!!

My husband & I just went in January. Our AF son met us on his mid-tour break, and we had a wonderful time.
We actually spent our time on the other island but I would go again even with the 20+ hours of flying. We rented a holiday house, a MIL apt on the back of someone's home, and drove from one side of the country to the other. We drove appox 200 Kilometers in the time we were there. We were in Christchurch, Queensland, the mountains, went whale watching and went to Milford Sound to see the Fjords.
The Kiwis were complaining about the weather, but we enjoyed it since it was 16 deg F here when we left. Wonderful country, people and trip. Congratulations and enjoy yourselves.
