I need a book recommendation if you have one!

Any suggestions for a great read that isn't "heavy" or too terribly sad? My usual go-to authors for this type of thing would be, say, Maeve Binchy or Fannie Flagg (along those lines), but I'm caught up on everything they have written.
Thanks!

Good mystery/detective stories....... Michael Connelly, Richard North Patterson (not James Patterson), Catherine Coulter, David Baldacci, Vince Flynn.
Good romance-y Diana Palmer, Linda Lael Miller, Kristin Hannah
Fern Michaels and Barbara Delinski are also good.
Nora Roberts is another good author.
I listen mostly to books on tape so I can sew and listen at the same time.

Have you read any of the Elm Creek Quilters series? I love them! Her newest just came out this week and I am anxiously awaiting it's arrival! If you google Elm Creek Quilt Series you should be able to find a complete list of the books. I've only read one that I didn't care for....it was about remodeling the kitchen.

This is a site that lists all the books an individual author has written in chronological order, so if you find a series you like you can make sure you are reading them in order, great for books like the Elm Creek Quilters series. Also at the bottom of each author's page are recommendations of similar authors and books, so say, if you are in the mood to read only mysteries about quilters, you can find more of the same.
Personally, I like Earlene Fowler's Bennie Harper quilt mystery books, The Cat Who... series by Lilian Jackson Braun, Lauren Willig's historical/love/spy novels beginning with The Secret History of the Pink Carnation, Nancy Thayer's The Hot Flash Club and sequels (especially for those of us at THAT AGE). For a great book on CD you can't go wrong with Water for Elephants -- the readers do a fantastic job.

I just finished the second of two books by Jack Finney. The first is Time and Again, and the second is From Time to Time. (You do need to read the first before the second.) They are about this guy who travels through time - not what you would expect though of a time travel story.
I highly recommend them. Anyone that I have run into that has read them has enjoyed them also.
These books were the kind that I just didn't want to put down.
