So...i took a too big shirt and redid it a bit. I love the neckline on me, but the elastic pulled it up and now its a bit to short. Anyone have any ideas to make it longer without looking dorky? It started out as just a basic button down shirt. TIA!!

I had that problem with a sweat shirt and added prairie points around the bottom. I used coordinating recycled men's shirts. I don't see why that wouldn't be a possible solution.

I have not been able to figure out the picture posting thing. It's just a basic button down shirt. I cut it straight at the bottom. I put a casing around the neck opening that I cut and put in elastic for some soft gathers.

The prairie points may work. I was trying to avoid the whole "Ill just add a panel at the bottom" thing making it obvious. Thanks for the help/inquiries, too. I will try to get a pic posted soon .

You could add a wide lace or panel of coordinating fabric at the bottom.

Seems like I have seen a lot of "fashion" with sheers added at botton..some have heavy lace added to the sheers. Some of the sheers have a handkerchief hem and some longer in back than front and have even seen some that have light gathers.

How about cutting it off about four inches from the bottom, and inserting a seminole patchwork and then putting the four inch from the bottom back on. You could even do the same to the sleeves in a smaller size, but you might have to remeasure them to get the length right.

Great ideas here. I am tall and have problems finding clothing too. Short for me in sleeves and skirt bottom. BTW, newest thing in fashion is a skirt length...aka the thirties...just a few inches below the knee. Who'd a thought?

My DS and DN add lace to the bottom of thrift store shirts all the time. DN lives and works in Washington DC. She says it is all the rage.
