An article about sleeve construction on clothes. It's something I have problems with from time to time.

New (to me) computer and firefox is not playing nicely with the web today so couldn't see the whole thing. But...I did just have a conversation with another QB member about this the other day.

When dealing with set-in sleeves...a trick I was taught at a very early age was to sew shoulder seams but NOT side seams of garment. Gather TOP only of sleeve piece and sew into place. Then sew the seam from the hem of the garment all the way down through the seam of the sleeve in one seam. Easy peasy.

Believe it or not, it fits different if you construct it this way. Not bad , not wrong, just different.

I worked in a garment factory where we made shirts. The top of the sleeves were sewn in then the seam from hem to cuff was sewn. It's much easier this way & the sleeves will lay better.

I hate making clothes. Most patterns need so many alterations, just a pain to work with.
Plus size patterns are a joke, especially if you're a petite plus with narrow sloping shoulders. The sleeve doesn't fit right if the shoulders are too wide.
