Who wouldn't dance to Julie Andrews songs from The Sound of Music? That's terrific!!
Actually Machel, they do!! There are a few "secret" organizations that organize stunts similar to this. :D One is called "Improv Everywhere" & there's another here in SoCal called "GuerilLA" ( http://guerillaimprov.com/ ). I believe they may have held a "cocktail party" in an Ikea store.
There's even a worldwide one called "Thrill the World" that loosely organizes people all over the world to dance "Thriller" every year on the last Sunday of October at the same time! http://www.thrilltheworld.com They even have a video so you can learn the dance! :D

I've just watched it with Hans - I too had seen the other one that Izy mentions, the ad for a mobile phone company. Hans has translated the Dutch - at the top it says Antwerp Station blows the roof off (ie goes crazy) and at the end the VTM etc, is a TV channel, it's an advert for a programme where they audition people to find someone to play Maria in the Sound of Music musical in Belgium. We had a programme on UK TV a while ago to do the same thing.
I love this, though, even if it is commercial, I'm now sniffing and wet eyed! I think it's because it shows people so happy and smiling and interaccting with each other instead of the usual head down all in their own little worlds? I don't know! Beautiful though!

Hans has just googled and found out that it took four weeks of preparation, 200 dancers and ten hidden cameras; we also saw interviews afterwards with the passers by, saying how great it was - they really WERE ordinary members of the public!
