My GDS always wanted to go to John Long Silver's for hush puppies.

From my sons:

oarport instead of airport
eye browns for eye brows
constructions (you know, the instruction sheets that help you construct something, such as a piece of furniture)
compartments for apartments (fits, if you ask me)

When asked if he was out of pants, son said no, he was in of pants

Had an ant farm with one lone ant who was named Uncle Ant. When the ant disappeared, the 4 year old boy came to me crying because the ant had "made a clean getaway"

My daughter was singing at age 3 - Peter, James & John & Sambo. It took me years to learn the song should have been: Peter, James & John in a sailboat.

My son sang Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star as: Crinkle, Crinkle, little car, how I wonder what you are, Uppa, uppa sky so high, like a diamond in the sky.

I wish I could remember all the funny things my older son (almost 7) has said, because he is and has always been a real hoot. A few gems: At 3, we were reading a book about a dog, and he told me, "When I was a dog, I wagged my tail, too!" When he was about 4, he dipped a cube of cheese into his juice, offered it to me, and said, very fast, "The body of Christ, the bread of heaven." (We're Episcopalian, and that's what the priest says at communion.)

The 2-year-old doesn't talk much yet, but in one of his books is a picture that shows billowing curtains at the window, and when he gets to that picture, he points to them and says "MAMA!" I'm afraid it's a commentary on the fact that I could stand to lose a few pounds and appear as billowy as those curtains.

My grandson, at the age of 6, after spending time with his uncle who has a lot of cool tools, came into my sewing room and gently ran his hand across my sewing machine and said, "What does this baby do?"

These are absolutely delightful. However, I have found myself saying some things like sotermichael for motorcycle (pig latten, I think) and pillow sheet for pillow case, but it all makes sense to me.

When out son was small we moved to a new house in the country. He was pretty curious about things, so we fenced the yard. When we were done, he put his hands on his hips and said, "Now how's me going to get out?"
