Knitted Sweaters Saves the Blue Penguins - How Cute!
I'm not sure how many people knew about this but when I found out, I just had to share.
In October there was an oil spill off the Eastcoast shores of New Zealand. The Blue penguins there were at risk with the oil on their fur, so Skeinz, the natural yarn store, began a quest to save the penguins and put out a pattern for the sweaters that were to be made from 100% wool.
Knitters from across the world pitched in to save the Blue penguins by making them their sweaters, pajamas, or jumpers (Depending on what part of the world you are from.) The sweaters kept the penguins warm and helped keep the penguins from preening. They have plenty of little penguin sweaters now and thanks everyone for their efforts.
Just had to share. - Like penguins aren't cute enough already! Now they're even more adorable.

The response to the request for penguin sweaters was hugely overwhelming. Skeinz (the yarn store that sent the request) has re-updated their website that they do NOT need any more:
The response has been so overwhelming that we no longer require any more jumpers for the penguins effected but make sure you check out our blog for latest updates on what we are doing with the surplus jumpers & the a way that you can still knit & be contributing to the penguin cause.
