label snafu

Well I went and did it......I really screwed up hubby's printer he uses for his work. I bought the iron on material that I had used previously and designed a label to print. I went to my printer which did not seem to like the fabric even though it said it was for ink jet printers. Soooo I went into my hubby's home office to try his photo printer since I had put some color into my label design. That wouldn't print either....it only printed the color part. Strange! So I remembered printing on my hubby's large printer before so I decided to use that one. Well I guess I forgot that he had replaced the large ink jet for a laser printer and you guessed it......the sheet of fusible fabric wound around the parts of the inside of his printer and fused with the heat!!!
I felt sooooo bad for screwing up his work printer. I offered to give him the money I was putting aside for an embroidery machine but he said not to worry. When one of our sons was home at Christmas he dismantled the printer and managed to get the fused sheet off the inside with minimal damage and the printer now works!!!! WHEW
So just a word of warning.....heed the instructions. I thought I was doing that but just totally had a senior moment and forgot he got a new printer during the year. They really mean it when they say not for use in laser printers!
Ok, now my rant is over, my question is what to do now to come up with a label that looks nice. I don't have my embroidery machine yet and I loathe hand work. And I won't go near printers anymore trying to make a label. Any suggestions? Thanks for any info and Happy New Year.

I have 2 HPs and both of them wouldn't take the fabric. They pulled them in half-way then stopped printing and said there was a jam or no paper. They are old printers so maybe the sensors are shot. Good idea of bringing my designs in to a print shop and see if they can transfer them to the iron-on transfers. Thanks for the suggestion.
