My husband is a history buff and said the movie was true to history. Loved Abe and Mrs. Lincoln. Sally Fields was wonderful as his wife. What an actress! Interesting how it was the Democrats that did not want to abolish slavery. Very interesting how our politics keep changing. I give the movie an A+. I may see it again.

having just toured Gettysbury, PA earlier in April, I thoroughy enjoyed the movie... I agree with others, the 2 1/2 hours passed quickly as Steven Spielberg kept you interested the entire length of the movie.

My husband and I saw it and found it to be very interesting. I was impressed because there was no sex and no foul language - seems that they throw that into a movie even if it has nothing to do with the story line.

I just realized, in the movie there were not any scenes where they were eating, were there? I just made the Martha Washington cake (they give you the recipe at the Mt Vernon candlelight tour) which is what made me think of that. It would have been interesting looking at the table settings.

Plan on seeing it this weekend. Thought I'd take my GD (15 yrs old). Here it is a long movie but well worth it.
Saw Circus de Solie movie last weekend. Not much of a story line but great entertainment.

I agree it was a well spent 2.5 hours. I do not purchase movies often when they come out on DVD but this will be one I watch again and again. Even my 18 year old daughter and 15 year old son enjoyed it. It was very interesting to listen to the two of them discuss the political maneuvering that was a running theme throughout. Highly recommended film!
