Group would be if an employer helps you get it and helps pay. Individual would be if you went out and got the insurance. I don't know if AARP's is considered individual or group. I'll look at that website now and see.

Wow! that just shows you how inter-tangled (is that a word) the insurance companies are!!!!!!!

Okay -- here's what I got from that:

1) ANYONE that has health ins. thru UHC is qualified.
2) You'll get a reimbursement IF you went to a doctor or whatever that was NOT in their network (in another words, a doct, etc. that signed up with them). That's where you pay extra for co-pay, etc. They're actually going over the books and making sure we all got the right amount paid. I KNOW I wasn't and I fought them for a long time! DH and I went to a clinic...to separate doctors. BOTH were physician assistants. He paid $20.00 co-pay and I paid $10.00. I kept asking and asking -- both doc's office AND the ins. company said the other was at fault. I gave up... Maybe now I'll get my money back!!!!!!

Just read it to DH --- says we have to submit a claim form!!! UGH....yeah, I'm sure the clinic is going to be happy about this!!!

I have UHC but do not use Out-of-network services as we have enough In-Network doctors here. I used to work for BlueCross BlueShield and I know from working there that when an insurance company pays an oon provider it is usually no where near a reasonable amount contrary to what they consider UCR. I am sure that if you used OON providers and had to pay some portion out of your pocket that you shouldn't have you will be included in settlement would be my guess.
