That is what they (snopes) say but how does anyone really know? It's a matter of what you want to believe. It's a nice story and my only thought was "director, you don't Marines if you think they left you!" Sometimes whether snopes approves or disapproves a story, its good to read something nice. Fiction IS what millions of books are sold on.

Maybe because they reference credible sources that either refute or confirm the various stories on the internet?

Snopes cites it's resources (and there were 4). Stories don't.

I read the article. It still cited speculation in a lot of areas.
