Default Fabric mills or outlets along The River Road and the Natchez Trace

In April we will catch The River Road (hiway 61, which follows the Mississippi) near St Louis and follow it to New Orleans. We will detour to Shreveport to visit a granddaughter in the Air Force.

We will return home to Indiana from New Orleans by the Natchez trace.

I would like to ask anyone who lives along those routes if there are any fabric mills or outlets along the way. Iv'e tried to search, but cannot find anything specific.

Also, if there are any 'can't miss' places for fabric, or woodworkers, I would love your input.

Phyllis

The Natchez Trace is a federal parkway--2 lanes with 55 speed limit (unless it has changed since I was last traveling). There are no commercial sites, but it is a beautiful, leisurely drive. My last experience was from TN to Florence, Alabama. Of course, there might be a gas station somewhere, but most likely you still need to depart from the parkway at a connecting city or state line. No restaurants or fabric shops! I must admit it has been a few yrs since we used the parkway to return to TN from MS. Maybe someone can give you more updated info.

Excuse me. I assumed quilt fabric. I see that a lot of the fabric mills are for apparel or home dec. This is a quilting board...she did not specify so my apology.

Lived near Shreveport LA for 28yrs. There are no fabric mills near there. There are a couple quilt shops---one in Shreveport and one across the river in Bossier City---where the Air Force Base is. The one in Bossier is more of an heirloom sewing business, but the last few years has added some quilting material. It is definitely worth a visit. Don't remember the names, but just look up fabric stores and you will find them.

There is a great fabric shop in Tupelo, Ms, easy to get to off the Natchez Trace. Check out the web site http://www.sews.com.
