Wondering if anyone has had this problem and found a solution. I am tall and would love to find a "tall" ironing board. I checked at Bed-Bath & Beyond, Sears, Meijers, Target to no avail. Looked on-line and they all seem to be the same height. Ironing is hard on my back and shoulders. If I could find a tall and extra-wide ironing board I would be in seventh heaven. Would like a wider one but would settle for just a taller one.

Why can't you get a long table and use a board and cover it to make a big ironing board and then use the table leg lifters under the table to make it taller?

Here's an idea for you. I never put my ironing board away. The frame part was a huge waste of space so I found a used dresser on craigslist.

I picked the iron up and held it above the dresser and measured how far it was to the dresser top and that gave me the measurement for the riser. The riser is two pieces of MDF and a 4X4 fence post cut into 4 inch sections. It gave me a total rise of about 5.5 inches.

Several years ago, K Mart had Martha Stewart ironing boards. I got one that adjusted to a high level (I'm 5'10" myself). Sure is a back saver. I don't know if they still carry these.

I have issues with my back as well, and have learned to lower my ironing board so I can sit while I iron...
