Default Machine embroidery question...

I do lots of towels...both flour sack and terry and would like recommendations on a good tear away stabilizer. Also are there different types of tear away for Redwork type designs as compared to regular solid patterns. Thanks for you help.

I haven't embroidered for awhile...but I used to use a product that seemed kind of plastic with holes in it...and then there is the paper type...any preference? Where do you buy it?

I'm a fan of Floriani stabilizers and have used either a Medium Weight Tear Away or No Show Mesh for towels with a water disolve topping for 'plush' towels. Lately, I have been using Wet-n-Gone, a water solvable stabilizer. Depending upon the stitch count of the design you may have to use more than one layer of stabilizer. On Floriani stabilizers there is a sheet of paper inside the role that give helpful hints and or the recommended stitch count for the stabilizer. When I use Wet-n-Gone with non plush towels I soak in a pan of water to dissolve the stabilizer, wring out gently, then iron to dry. When ironing use a towel underneath the design, and iron from the backside of the towel. You will want to press hard to dry the towel. (Sliding the iron around may distort the design.) Once it is dry I remove the towel and let it rest on the ironing board to be sure it dries completely.
