Default Measurement for 11-year-old

Greetings!

I'm wondering if someone can help me with a measurement for my granddaughter. She is 11 years old, and I want to make a headband for her to wear over her ears. Perhaps one of these wonderful quilters has a child available that age and could give me a measurement. I seem to have to ask her mother for measurements all the time which kind of gives away my gift.

Thanks for your help!

Can’t help with measurements but maybe look for a pattern with elastic in the back so it’s adjustable?

Thanks Tartan, but I have a pattern I want to use. Thought someone would be able to help with the measurement. Looks like I'll have to ask DD.

I think you will have to ask. Head sizes are so different. I am a full grown adult but wear children’s hats.

I would make it adult size. The difference in size of the head would be minuscule unless this child is very small for her age.

that sounds like a nice idea. Having a measurement of her head is best though. (in England, they call those Alice Bands) (for Alice in Wonderland I think).

You can easily make this adjustable using elastic. Or just call her for the measurement .

I would make it adjustable and out of fabric that stretches. I've purchased several for myself, some are too big, some are not stretchy and squeeze my head. I now make my own and they are adjustable, I use velcro in the back, it's the same idea as the back of an adjustable baseball hat.
